The company was founded in 1974 by my parents as A & S Building Contractors. We completed a new build in Frenchay, built extensions and did general bricklaying works for other contractors.
I worked alongside my dad for many years who trained me and I adopted the same quality workmanship and attention to detail, mainly carrying out large extensions and conversions. He is a fully qualified bricklayer having served an apprenticeship with Cowlings, Bristol over a five year period.
The name changed to A J Read & Son and I took over the company in 2018. We carry out all building works including electrics, plumbing etc. and do a substantial amount of large landscaping works. We specialise in block paved driveways.
We carry out many different types of building works to suit all needs. We have access to an Architect and several engineers who are available to all clients.
